SettingTriangle Question
#1
Ok, so I am working on putting together a table topper and my blocks are going to be on point, IF I can figure out how to do this! When doing setting triangles on the end of the diagonal rows, do they need to be larger than just the block size cut on the diagonal to make a triangle?
My blocks are 5 1/2 inches so they will finish 5". I cut squares 5 1/2" and cut them to form triangles. The problem is that they don't seem like they will match up withteh blocks on both sides of them. Does this make sense? They are short on one of the three sides no matter what I do. I have no idea how big these need to be to make this work! :?

I've never tried setting triangles because I'm not nearly that skilled yet. This link was posted the other day with sizes needed. It might help you a bit.

For setting triangles, you want the outside edge to be on the straight of grain. Therefore you cut a square that is larger than your block size and then slice it on both diagonals. For the corner triangles, you want to the two outside edges to be on the grain, so you cut a different size square and cut it only once on the diagonal. The math involved, as well as some instructions, are on quiltville:
