I want to sew eyes (by hand) on a dinosaur quilt I'm making. What would be a good way to do this? If you would like to see a picture of the dinosaur block, check out the blog on my site, http://www.appliquequiltdesigns.com. Thanks for any suggestions that you have.

Here is how to find the picture of the dinosaur block. http://www.appliquequiltdesigns.com. Go to "What's New" and they scroll down to Quilt Preview. You should see a picture of the dinosaur there.

http://www.appliquequiltdesigns.com/...igns-blog.html It says Quilt Preview and you can see the cute gray dino there.
It really depends on the intended age for this blanket. Three or older you might use buttons sewed on very firmly.
One lady posted about it and she found iron on embroidery that she sewed on, so there was no choking hazard.

For small children, I have drawn closed eyes (like the cup of a u) w/little j's for the eye lashes. I used ink pens or markers. that way there is not a choking hazard. For 5 yrs or older, I have used 2 colors of buttons sewn on top of each other. Than used a glue like fray check on the top of the button as well as the back.
Hope that helps.

I had the same dilemma a couple of weeks ago. I ended up sewing appliqued hearts on for the eyes on a bug quilt. In the doll making section at Hobby Lobby I saw face kits, but they were going to be too big for my bug faces. Here's a pic of the bug face

For my 3 year old grandnephew I made a snake quilt (it was all zigzag blocks - half square triangles with the head that was an octogon folded in half -- confusing I know) But the octogon opened (closed using velcro) and so it looked like the snakes were able to open and close their mouths.
Anyhoo, for the eyes I took 2 in circles, stuffed them and drew eyes on with a permanent, non-toxic marker.
