I want to make pillowcases using Minkee with the dots and I am wondering if I can just serge the edges for the band or top of the pillowcase or should I turn it under and stitch? That probably does not make sense--sorry. If I fold the band 4 inches, should I fold it under about an inch and then stitch it down or just serge the edge and fold it dow 4 inches and sew? Also, I have seen them made with French seams but that seems to make a bulky seam. Could I just serge those seems too? Thank you in advance.

If you are serging the edges, there is no reason to turn it down 1/4" then turn it down 4". You can serge the inside seams if you want to. I have done this on a couple of pillow cases but I just didn't like the look. I like the french seams but I agree that with the Minky it might be too bulky. I have never sewn with Minky before but isn't there quite a bit of stretch with it? Will it hold its shape as a pillowcase?

Minkee stretches so you have to pin an dgo slow. I made some quilts for my daughter that she gave as gifts for baby showers. it has a lot of fuzz come off when you are sewing. I just made bare seams. worked ok for that. never thought of pillowcases.

Here is a photo of what I did. It was not too bad but had to do lots of practice seams. I had to lengthen the stitch and start in to the seam and backstitch. It is not great but okay. I did a french seam on the side and bottom but for the band I just folded it down 4 inches--next one I will try to fold it under but it might be too thick.
