I bought a little gadget at JoAnn Fabrics, I think. You put the blade between two sharpening pads and twist twist twist. Then you switch to a "buffing" type of pad and it smooths the edges. Inexpensive and seems to do the trick. It's made by Dritz and I think I found it on the gadgets wall.

That is the same sharpener that I use. There is also an electric one out there but I haven't ever used it and I can't see myself ever spending the money for it. The little twist sharpener does what I need it to and I think I paid less than 10 dollars for it.

I highly recommend the electric TruCut sharpening system. I am able to keep my blades sharp and have not purchased any new blades since I got it. It only takes about 20 - 30 seconds to restore a blade that is just not cutting well. No more using blades until I have to press so hard it hurts my wrist. I also love their rulers with the ridge and the ergonomic cutter that rides on the ridge so the blade doesn't wobble as we cut and we are more accurate.
