Some questions about EQ?
#1
Hi! I still have EQ5 and love it but wondering what the new versions are like. I'm not big on designing my blocks simply because that's not where my talents lie; I'm more into using blocks in the library than coming up with some new block. Sometimes I have a hard time visualizing what a design should like, now if I see a picture of something then I can copy it but do the original work, I just don't have the knack for that.
I had heard that EQ6 would allow you to bring in machine embroidery designs pictures as part of the block design. If that's the case I might be interested in EQ6 because I love using the embroidery machine along with my quilting.
Can anyone share with me what the differences are in EQ5,6 and 7? I've looked at the website but I'd rather hear from a user. Sometimes the updates on those softwares is so minimal that unless you're interested in a particular area/function then you don't always see a big difference from previous versions.
Since I'm not into designing my own blocks, I wondered if my money would be better spent on buying Block Base for more additional blocks and some of the other add-ons like Town and Country Patchwork.
Sure appreciate hearing from any of you and so appreciate and value your experience with EQ

I am thinking of purchasing eq but don't know if it would be worth the money for me, so I will be interested in the differences too. I can still get eq5 and it is substantially less than eq7 so comparing versions would be helpful to me as well. Thanks.

i'd be interested in comments on EQ also. my DD bought EQ6 for me a couple of yeas ago. i had a new laptop that turned out to be defective. it went back to the manufacturer three times, finally they sent me a new one. i had downloaded EQ each time i got the laptop back. when i finally got a working laptop and tried to reload EQ,i couldn't. when i contacted EQ i was told it would cost me $45 to reload EQ. i'm afraid to try EQ again since my laptop is getting old and i don't want to incur additional costs in case the laptop dies. most cos. let you download to your email address as often as needed without addition charges. anyone else have this happen to them?

I got EQ6 last year for Christmas but have not used it much and got the EQ7 upgrade so I found a class online at Quilt U to try to learn how to use it better and more efficiently. It starts Jan 7 so we shall see if it helps

Hi! Thanks so much for the comments. If I did anything it would be to get EQ6 but only for the feature to be able to see what the embroidery design might look like in a block. Not sure if that's reason enough, think I'd rather have Block Base and Town and Country Patchwork.
Has anyone seen any discussions on the EQ group listed under the "User-Defined Topic List" on the home page?( its listed down towards the bottom of the home page). I wrote the manager on 12/29 but haven't heard anything back from her. It mentions tutorials and discussions on EQ but when I click on the link, nothing shows up.
Can't believe its Jan 1, 2011. What happened to 2010??? Take care, Chris

I have had every version of EQ since it came it out. I am currently running 5 & 6 but fixing to transfer the files into 7 and sell off 5 & 6!
Eq5 & n6 are about the same. I prefer 5 but then I don't do machine emb.
EQ7 has now combined the best features of 5 & 6 and incorporated MORE emb/applique designs. It also has the unlimited # of times you can put on a computer! A HUGE plus!
I have taken a few classes through quilt university and found them to be a good resource!
I LOVE EQ for lots of reasons, but being able to design my quilts to use up the stash I have is the biggest plus!
