Stuff I should know....and now I need it!
I have a friend who just lost a dear cat and is grieving so badly that I want to make her a pillow with the cat's picture on it. I have the picture saved on my computer and I need to be taken by the hand and walked through the process of printing the picture (sizing, etc) on to ??what kind of fabric and then what do I do from there?
In the past, people have made this sound so simple and now, as it's my turn, my brain is turning to mush. Can anyone who has worked with computer images and pics give me the steps so I can make my friend start to feel better? Thanks wonderful fellow quilters!

Go to Jo Ann's or Office Depot and buy a package of (usually 3 sheets) of paper backed cloth. Then all you have to do is go to your printer, put the paper in (cloth side down), find the picture on your computer, hit the print button (use best or whatever the fabric directions call for), and then iron the picture with a hot dry iron to seal the picture and it may tell you to do that on the package also. Then you cut it out, and put it with your other fabric or applique it on a square to put in the quilt/pillow and go from there. Hope this helps.

I lost my beloved cat and his picture was on my computer's wallpaper and slide show and I cried everytime that I looked at it - had to have my DD over here to remove his picture so that I did not cry a dozen times a day.

if you are lazy like me, just send the digital pic out to a service and have one or more quilt blocks made. I did this for my friend as a giftt and then made a quilted frame for it. There are lots of sites on line. here is just one http://www.hotdiggitydog.com/

I had the same reaction after the loss of a dog.. seeing photos just set me crying all over again. A well meaning friend gave me a "stuffed" animal that resembled my dog.... I had to put it in the closest ... it was too painful. I eventually put it in the Goodwill bag.
