super sized nine patch
I making a few super sized nine patch baby quilt for our pregnancy center in town.. you can make 3 quilt tops out just 3 yds of fabric and it is fast and easy to do.
After sewing the tops together and pressed, they really look small to me, I don't know if that is because I.m use to making larger quilts for beds, they measure 35x40 ..I was thinking that maybe I should add a 2 inch boarder and that would give me a quilt of 39x44...what do you think is the quilt without the borders a good size? or would you add some borders? Thanks

Thanks for your fast reply... it is a very fast and easy quilt to put together..there are a few ladies from my church that want to make baby quilt to give away, so I thought this would be a good one not a lot of fabric. I wanted to try it out before our meeting so I could bring one along to show them and see if this would be something they would all like to do..
just seened a little small, I guess I will make one with a border and one without and see which one they all like..

I help with quilts for the pregnancy center too and I make them different sizes depending on what I am making them for...this link will give you some good info and what I use. http://quilterscache.com/StartQuilti...iltingtwo.html

This is so funny. I just experimented with that same quilt. One of my quilting groups has had requests for lap quilts. I thought this would be a good idea and super fast. It is superfast but for lap quilts I'm going to use 2 yds of fabric and follow the directions for the 1 yd size. I ended up adding borders to size it up. I'm hoping we can make several in one afternoon, especially if we work assembly line style.

Oh cjr that is a good idea... I ended adding borders to the 3 quilts that I just made, I do like them to be no bigger then 42 inches then we don't have to peice the back. We're going to set up in the church basement and do a assembly line too, I think we will be able to get pretty many quilts done in a the 2 days we have set aside.
thanks everyone for you input on this ...
