table cloth question - would you back it?
I just found some yardage I love and think it will be perfect as a table cloth. I know it needs nice hems. Will it be better if I also put a backing on it? What do you think? Anyone have advice for doing this? Thanks.

I think it's your choice. I have made pieced tablecloths so of course, I back them. I didn't use batting tho. Some people do use batting or a piece of muslin or something between the layers. Depends on how thick you want it and what look you are looking for.

If you leave the material in one piece, you don't need to back it. If you cut it apart to make blocks or strips, I would put a backing behind it, so you don't see the seams. This is my personal preference, no rules.

I usually put a backing on mine, I use muslin or a less expensive piece of fabric. Sometimes I like a very thin batting, like flannel, just to give it more body. I like to have different tablecloths for the seasons or just to change them out.
