I accompanied Pat to the top of the world (Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii) and we went into the Keck observatory. (The holy grail of astronomers everywhere). I had altitude sickness to beat the band, and still - I saw nothing but quilting patterns inside the observatory. No, nothing wrong with you at all. lol

Oh my goodness, this thread and all the stories in it have sure given me a laugh. I haven't done anything like this stuff YET, but I figure it'll come soon enough. I don't think it's odd though, quite amusing actually. :)

I know a lot of people like to make quilts out of plaid or striped men's shirts. Bonnie Hunter writes books about it.
I have just never liked either stripes or plaids, I wish I did.
Coming from the sewing backround that I do, I would have to have every block exactly on straight of grain.
That right there would take any pleasure out of the quilt for me.
Do any of the rest of you have quirks about this?

So funny!!! I never thought of using denim for a quilt. I had a yard sale a few months ago and I had a stack of jeans (some of them never worn) for 25 cents and a lady told me she wanted the whole stack. I wondered why she didn't even look at the size...maybe she had the same idea?

Oh goodness, not just clothes, have you checked out carpets, tile, bathroom floors? etc etc. At a convention once, a friend and I went to the lobby at 2AM with some tracing paper, and copied the floor pattern. The desk clerk was really looking at us and wondering if he should call the men in white jackets! We explained to him what we were going to use the design for but he still looked at us strangely. We laughed so hard we almost couldn't go back to sleep. Humm wonder if that is why one of the roommates will not room with us anymore. grin

A quilting buddy and I saw a fabulous shirt on this guy and she said...I need that fabric for my next quilt...he looked at us like we were nuts and then realized we were serious and almost ran away!! That guy was moving fast to save his shirt...LOL!!
