Twin Sisters Quilt by Eleanor Burns

Twin Sisters Quilt by Eleanor Burns
I'm making a twin sisters quilt for my son and his new bride. I started it a few months ago and cut it with the directions given with 2 1/2 inch strips. You sew them together, cut in half and then half again and sew the opposite strips together and it forms a 5 1/2 inch square. Yikes - way too small for me. What would be a good size to cut the strips, 3 1/2 inch strips, 4 1/2, any suggestions? Thanks!

I can't help you with sizes but here is a link to one that was made by a QB member http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...rs-t33729.html

It may seem small, but this quilt works up fast and easy. I can't find a pic of mine otherwise I'd post it. The thing about El's patterns is that you can change the strip width easy and it still looks great.

I made this a couple of years ago using her instructions from her book. The squares really are small but I used up a bunch of fat quarters and made it scrappy and it turned out beautiful. It is a King size but I don't remember how many squares I made, a bunch I do remember that. My sister came to visit from Texas and I had just finished it and put it on our bed. She talked about how pretty it was all week so when they got ready to leave I pulled it off my bed with the pillow cases and gave it to her to take home. She loved it and still does. It is appreciated so thats what is important to me. Make it like the pattern if you can and you will love it too.
