i am making a twisted bergello. i justed sewed the first 5 strips together. it looked like to me that it was starting to bow. unfortunatly i didn't read the instructions closely. that after sewing every 2 strips together to alternate the ends. if i continue to sew them like the pattern says will it straighten out? i am taking a class on it, but don't go back until next week. my friend said she sewed hers with all the one ends even together and hers didn't bow.

my strips want to curve like a smile. like i said i just got the first 5 strips on and it started to curve. yes when i lay it down for it to lay flat it has a curve. if i try to lay it straigt then the last strip looks like it wants to ripple a little.

from the added description, i'd say that at least one of your strips was too much longer than the one it was sewn to. if you "forced" it by easing, because there isn't another forced seam on the other side of that strip, it has bowed. perhaps some of the individual patches in one or more of the strips aren't exactly the sizes they need to be.
i would recommend unstitching the strips, pressing them flat, finding the off-sized patches and fixing them.

I made several bargello quilts and they are right. Make sure one end of you strips are even as all fabric is not the same length. Sew in groups of two then line them up and sew together from opposite ends. This will prevent the bowing. Also when pressing follow the instructions so that when you cut the strips and sew them back together they will "wiggle" match together nicely. I hope I have not confused your totally one this LOL Marge
