Virtual Quilting Weekend--10/10 to 10/13
Welcome to the Columbus Day Virtual Quilt Weekend! I'm a little late getting this started this morning, my cats thought I should get up at 4 am to feed them so I slept a little later than planned after that For those new to VQW, we quilters get together on this thread over the weekend and share what our goals are for the weekend and what we're working on. If you're like me, you'll probably get some new ideas as if you didn't have enough projects planned to last the rest of your life! Pictures of your projects are always welcomed.
I have about an hour's worth of house chores to do so hope to be in the sewing room by 9. First I need to clear off my sewing table and then I have 6 Halloween wall hangings to finish up. After that, I have a quilt to cut out for my parents Christmas present and hopefully start piecing it today. I also have 2 hand towels to squeeze in somewhere. I would love to have the quilt and towels completed by the end of this weekend. Then all the Christmas presents for family are done and I can go find some gift bags somewhere.
So what are you hoping to get accomplished this weekend?

I'm hoping to get some more of my paper pieced Hummer Storm quilt done, although I'm not sure I'll do any today as I'm recovering from the Knit and Stitch show in London yesterday!
Here it is so far:
I've made the blocks, cornerstones and sashing to make it a 4x4 square (it's 3x3 atm), but I haven't joined any of them together yet! Hopefully I'll manage that over this weekend :-)
I look forward to seeing everyone else's progress!

Sisty88, that is a beautiful quilt!!
I have to work today and friends coming over in the evening so likely no quilting today for me. Saturday & Sunday, though, I hope to be productive!
I need to bind one quilt, then I have a very simple big-block floral double-sized bed quilt for my MIL up on the wall I'd like to get pieced and off the design wall so I can start cutting and laying out a 30's feedsack-repro quilt for my gran-in-law. (Which will also be very simple and big-block so should go quick.) I also want to start cutting green fabrics for a pair of matching Minecraft Creeper quilts I'm making for my niece & nephew. All of these (except the one that just needs binding) are Christmas gifts - finally getting my start on the season!
I also need to whip up a simple patchwork cape for my "The Quilter" superhero costume but not sure if I'll do that this weekend, or next.
It's going to be a busy sewing weekend!

Can I chime in? I'm excited to sew this weekend because it will be the first dedicated time for quilting I've had since I got my new quilting table (Tailormade Quilter's Vision). I'm almost finished quilting my tumbler (not tumbling blocks) so I hope to get it ready to bind. I also need to finish quilting the border of my roses, roses, roses quilt that has been sitting around for almost a year. And if I can get the jelly roll race 2 quilt's backing ready (not purchased yet) I'll be all caught up with the quilts I'm doing that require machine work. Plus there's always those handwork projects that I keep plugging away at. I'm sure I'll be working on my son's quilt while I watch a race with DH. So many quilts, so little time right?
Sisty88: I just wanted to say WOW how fantastic your quilt is! I love everything about it! Just fabulous!!!
If anyone can tell me how to post from my IPad I'll post pics too but so far I've had no luck with that LoL.

Hi Heather....Thanks for "organizing" the VQW again. i am SOOOOO in. I have had the week "off" from watching my DGD - and have so much to finish up. But have got to bring some order to my craft/storage room first as i have been pulling fabrics and stacking them all week on a table in my family room. Can't get any more on the table so will have to start over.
Hoping to finish my "November Place mat of the month" for my folks and aunts today. Then on to borders for my DS Christmas quilt...which i home to finish completely before Sunday.
Sisty88 - i confess i have never been a fan of the snails tail/trail - but in this quilt it is really stunning. Hummer Storm is a pattern i will definitely have to put into my book. Love your colors too.
