A Wedding Dress quilt?
#81
Yes, I have heard of this many years ago in a quilt magazine. Wish I knew where it is. It was back when most of the magazine were were printed in b&w. It shows where the wedding dress was opened up in the back and laid out on a background fabric. It showed the whole dress that way. I have always wanted to do that with mine which is a 1958 model. Someday I still may do it.

Another idea to help use up some of the material, after the christening gowns, etc. is a Wedding photo album cover made in the crazy patch pattern with beads, lace, ribbons, and fancy stitches, either hand or machine stitched. I saw this in a book that I have and thought it was beautiful. I think it would be a great idea to combine all the board ladies ideas from one gown into such a memorable heirloom for the whole family to enjoy. Good luck with your decision. Jinnie

What a great idea.
But I'm still hoping she changes her mind.

What if she doesn't change her mind aaaaaand asks someone else to make a quilt for her? Maybe see it from her point of view and change your mind. There are many ways to use it and it will be something she can tell others about her special day & her Mother made this for her. Something to think about!

I just had to cut up my daughter-in-laws' wedding dress this spring. She asked me if I would made a First Communion dress out of it for her daughter and my granddaughter, so I did and it turned out beautiful and my little granddaughter could not have looked more beautiful. My daughter in law also said I want to do something with it and I will never wear it again, it is just hanging in the closet. There was a little fabric left, which I think she wants me to make some little pillow or something for her son, so they both have something. So it can be done. And I actually felt very honored to be asked to make the dress for her.
