What am I doing wrong?
I've tried four times now to make the 3 dudes jelly roll quilt pattern but, if I try to match the seams, I always come up a 1/4" short on one side. Has anyone made this block.... and if so, are the strips suppose to match up perfectly so that the seams interlock? I looked at Jenny Doan's tute but the strips she used have quit a bit of pattern in them so it's hard to tell whether or not the seams match up or if the strips are just random.

yes they are to be squares and they are all the same size. You have to make sure you are using the width of the strips and using that number to cut your squares. If you have any questions just pm me.

Yes, they do match up if your 1/4" seam is correct. I've made 2 and mine did. Here's a tutorial on getting your seams correct: http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...ce-t89997.html Also, if you are using a precut jelly roll, they are sometimes cut a bit off. Measure your strips and see if they are exactly 2 1/2". Having said all this, if you love your fabric, I wouldn't worry too much. You are probably the only one who will notice!

I'm in the process of making the same quilt. Also found that some of my seams didn't line up. After a while I decided no one will notice but me. It's very scrappy and busy, and it's the color that people will be looking at, not the seams. Proud of myself for not being so anal...

I should begin a big check. Width of stripes followed by the seam allowance. Did you press or iron the seam. Ironing can cause fabric to stretch try again and prrress. Try to make seams go opposite ways. Jenny doak at missorie star has a utube which is very easy to follow.
