Okay I really need some ideas here, I have tons of left over blocks and squares that I dont want to toss but I need to do something with. I have strips from my sons scrappy in my avatar, 4 patches of different color combos, some whole blocks that I had made too many of, and they are all different prints and colors.
I have enough to make a lap quilt I think but how do I do it and what sort of pattern would I use. Photos would be very helpful......
So what do I do with them?

ok what colors do you have?? What do you like to work with, smaller or larger pieces?? are they already 'cut-up' into squares? strips?
you can use color groups.. all reds.. all blues.. all browns for the 4 patch furrow squares..

You could work out the size of your largest block, then make scrappy/randoms out of the rest (adding bits and pieces 'til they are all a uniform size). Pick a nice bright solid (black is my all time favourite) sash them, say, an inch and a half all the way round and there you have it.
I am doing one at the moment and since it is going on our bed, I got my husband to pick the sashing (he went with red)...he also got the most peculiar Wizard of Oz fabric (demented looking trees with faces) and red apples...looks quirky and that will be the backing. It is purely an exercise in loosening up, improving my skills and depleting large amounts of bits and pieces. I also want to see if I can quilt a queen size quilt on my domestic machine, without messing up. Let us know how you get on....it is fascinating to see what different quilters get up to!

I think I can pull the bricks and stones off fairly easily or do a bunch or 4 patches and have at it. I also have 4-2 gallon bags full of crumbs to try and do something with them.
I just need to clean out some of my left overs and was wondering how to do it.
