I just saw some Texas A & M fabric at the local Walmart and want to make my grandson, who attends A & M, a twin size quilt. However, being a longarm quilter, I don't do much piecing of tops, so I don't have a pattern in mind but would like something with large pieces that would show the fabric more than the piecing. Could someone suggest such a pattern, maybe tell me where to purchase it or show a picture and about how much fabric to purchase?

I would buy 4-5 yards just to make sure I had enough. You can use leftover to make a pillowcase. What does the fabric look like? Is it a big design. It would be easier to pick a pattern if we knew how many colors were in it and what the size of the pattern was. Is the fabric also available on line so you could post a pix of it or something similar to it?

You could do a strip quilt, BQ, BQ2, BQ3, Warm Wishes. I'm doing one for dh that the center will be a Patriot's fabric. In EQ its called crossroads.
The light blue center is the logo, haven't scanned the fabric into EQ.

I am planning an antique tractor throw for DH. I plan on using the snowball block to highlight each tractor in my fabric. The blocks can be made whatever size are needed for the size of the print.
Otherwise just cut squares of the parts you want and surround them with plain sashing or pieced sashing. You can vary the size of the squares and sashing for more interest.

Gig 'em From the class of '91!
I would pick something like Warm Wishes.....and then use Maroon and white as the sashing.. The pattern uses 4 prints, but you could do it with more or less. http://www.quiltmaker.com/patterns/d...html?idx=5185_
or if you have a few different fabrics, this one could work too:

There are four prints in the collection at Walmart. White with small maroon print; Maroom with small white print; Grey, marron, black and white Medium print and an all over larger print mainly maroon and black. My mind is spinning now with the great suggestions each of you have provided. I'm off to look at the different sites now to view some patterns and quilts. Huge thanks to each of you!
