What size squares?
#1
I found a block I am trying to make for a quilt I am making. The problem is that I have just the picture and no instructions.
My question is this: The center of the block is a 4" fussy cut piece to which I need to sew 4 triangles. What size squares when cut into four pieces will give me the 1/4" all the way around so I will not lose my corners on the 4" center? I was trying 5" and cutting them into four pieces but I am losing two corners. This is the first time I have ever done triangles and I am not sure how to figure this out.

Here are instructions for you ....

What you are decribing is the "square in square" pattern I believe.

I know there is a website that shows this. Just can't remember what it is. Look on the Links and Resources here, or google Setting Triangles Quilt and see what you get. There is a formula for figuring it out. Good luck!! :-)
