Where to find novelty fabric?
I need to make 2 baby quilts by the end of the year. Mary at maryquilts.com has a strippie quilt pattern that I like a lot. It calls for a novelty print plus a couple fabrics that co-ordinates with it. What on-line store handles this type of fabric. There are so many shops out there it will take forever to search each one. Was hoping someone could give me a heads up finding some of this fabric. It doesn't have to be a name brand print just something that would work for a boy or girl quilt. Any help would be appreciated.

I would suggest fabric.com. There, you can search by category. fabricshack is a great on-line store, but I believe there you'd have to scroll down through all the lines of fabric to pic out the novelty ones. There is also this store, which I've never ordered from. They seem to be all novelty fabrics:

Novelty fabric is everywhere! If you want something specific you can google it and a list of places will come up. It depends on what you believe is a "Novelty". I love buying kids fabrics and making the "I Spy" quilts. Christmas fabrics, Thanksgiving and Halloween fabrics call my name too. My niece loves the princess items, my nephew it is Legos and Star Wars. So much fun! If you have fabric at a WallMart near you, check there. I have found that some of the novelty fabric they sell is the same one sold at other places just a lot less.
One of my favorite fabric stores told me they don't carry very much novelty fabric because the quality of the fabric isn't the best. But I am going more for the immediate interest and subject than long term. Even though a few of my quilts have lasted more than 25 years.
Enjoy what you find!

If you want to search a bunch of stores all at once, use the fabric search engines and look for novelty fabrics. The searches bring up thumbnails from all the enrolled stores and you can get more info on the ones you like. There are three main sites.

If you'd rather save some time, one shop that is very well known for novelty prints is J&O Fabrics.
