Words and Phrases Quilters Should NEVER Use
#1
"I Can't"
Acceptable Substitutes:
"I Haven't Learned How Yet"
"Someday"
"It doesn't speak to my soul. I'd rather [fill in the blank]. So leave me alone ... PLEASE." LOL
"I'm Dumb"
"I'm Stupid"
"I'm an Idiot"
all variations of that phrase
Acceptable Substitutes:
"I have a question."
"There is something I have decided I'd like to learn."
Add to the list, please. I am not stupid (i'm CRAZY. there's a difference), but i'm sure i didn't remember everything.

After giving an amazingly helpful answer the man was asked why he was on that side of the fence...he responded, " ...because I am crazy, not stupid!" Crazy works! find the crazy inside then there is nothing than can not be done!

And then there was differential equations and statistics. Passed the classes but I still have no clue.
Humility is a good thing to learn. Self knowledge of your capabilities is but the jumping off point of the rest of who you are. Don't ever be discouraged by the failures, celebrate the successes. Live your life as if it is the only one you have. It is.

Humility ... as in having to decide whether to laugh or scream when you beautifully paper piece a border only to realize you used the wrong colors ... so patiently picking up another piece of paper and beautifully repiecing it only to realize you not only did it again but with a different set of wrong colors?
will i say i can't? ever?
nope. i'll remind myself that i'm not perfect (who knew?) and to pay better attention while i print some more paper, write a note to a quilter friend the whole world can see (and therefore share the frustration and laughter), then dive back into my scraps. i think this time i'd better find the rights scraps first, set the others out of reach, then start to piece in "joyful anticipation" of my next boo-boo.
i am obviously too easily distracted by shiny objects and pretty colors.
P.S. Combinations, permutations, calculus and trig. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll consider those when i'm 95 ... IF i've run out of excuses by then.

PatriceJ...You always make me laugh. I love reading things on here. Been told I am wasting time. However, everytime I "waste" such time I get a good laugh, learn something new or simply enjoy hearing what other quilters are up too. Sure glad I found this board, where a body is never board.
