May 2010 Doll Quilt Swap (The Anniversary Swap!)
#1
Sign up time for the Quilting Board's doll quilt swap! It's our one year anniversary! Can you believe it? In one year, we've had approximately 161 participants from all over the world including America, Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. We've swapped over 400 of these little quilts and have had tons of fun along the way.
Doll Quilt Swap #12 -- May 2010
There is no theme for this month. Sender's choice. I am proposing a charity challenge this month, but it's entirely optional. More details on that below.
Here are some links if you want to see some of the beauties that have been created.

DOLL QUILT SWAP GUIDELINES
SIZE: from 12"x12" to 24"x24" or any size or shape in between.
MATERIALS: natural fibers/cotton, wool, linen
EMBELLISHMENTS: if you want to use them, feel free. Beads, rickrack, buttons, doilies, ribbon, lace; anything or nothing at all.
CONSTRUCTION: Pieced, appliqued, wholecloth, or yo-yos; quilted by hand or machine; and bound.
LABEL: It is recommended that you attach a label to the back of your quilt. A label is a nice addition to any handmade quilt. Whether or not you decide to label your quilt, please do include a note with your quilt with your quilting board name, real name and contact information (snail mail address and/or email address, etc. so that they can thank you). And I probably don't have to say this, but when you receive something, please thank the sender.
PARTNERS: You will be paired with a partner for this swap. You will make a quilt for your partner and your partner makes one for you.
DUE DATE: The deadline for all quilts to be sent is May 31, 2010.
COMMUNICATION: If for any reason you cannot meet the deadline or you need to drop out of this swap, please let me know as soon as you know. If you communicate any setbacks with me I can make sure things work out favorably for your partner, no hard feelings.
SIGN UP: Sign up begins today and ends April 30, 2010. I'll assign partners after that date.
If you would like to sign up, you can respond to this thread or PM me. Please let me know if you are willing to send internationally as we have several members outside of the US.

Optional Doll Quilt Swap Challenge
I've donated a few quilts to the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. http://www.alzquilts.org/ I thought it might be fun to make a quilt (or two) for this wonderful organization through our doll quilt swap. You can either donate a 9" x 12" (or smaller) quilt on your own or you can send them to me and I'll do all the paperwork and send them off together. Just let me know if you'd like to participate in the challenge. I'm trying to think of a prize drawing for those who participate in this optional challenge. Anyone game?
