bobbin thread storage question

My Bernina came with a case to store my bobbins but I usually put them in a little metal case by my machine. I used the method to keep them neat that was posted about a while back. You buy clear 3/4 inch hose and cut little sections off with an exacto knife and then cut a slit through 1 side. The little ring slips over the thread and has an added bonus for me. I use a sharpie to write what kind of thread is on the bobbin. I don't know if you can see it in the picture but the blue has Aurifil written on it.

Another handy strategy ... use the toe dividers from pedicures.
You can write on the foam any details you want to track with the thread.
I also have small ziplocks, just big enough for a spool of thread and bobbins, so that I can keep the matching thread/bobbins together.

After cutting the hanging thread all the way back to the wound thread I place my bobbins into multi-sectioned small containers. I can put a few into each section....they don't move around and unwind.
I really like the idea of clear tubing as described above but haven't done it for a two reasons. No time (even though I'm sure it won't take long)....and besides - I'm not looking in my bobbins a long time that unwound thread would bother me and make me want to do it. Did that make sense?
On bobbins I already have wound up - I try to use them up when sew I'm sewing areas that won't show on the finished project. That way the bobbin container is kept to a manageable minimum.

I use section fishing tackle boxes--small-4 x 6? I cut a dowel to fit into the channel and then string my bobbins on the dowel and nest it in the channel. I, too, use up leftover thread by sewing where the thread won't show.
