fat quarter storage ideas
Hi folks, I just started collecting fat quarters. I would like ideas about storage. I find stacking fabric is messy when pulling pieces for use. I don't want to take time to reorganize every time I pull a piece out. Thanks

I use totes - short in height (about the size of folded fq), wide and deep. I have a couple of these and they hold plenty of FQs.

These are 6" in height, 18" wide and 29" deep.

I use those plastic containers on wheels, with lids, from bargain stores. Some are just high enough to sit the fat quarters up on end - that is when one collects enough, and you can easily get at each piece. When one container is full the next one sits on top. Easily stored on shelves and you can see what fabrics you have.

I have a couple of plastic drawer sets I keep mine in. I dived them by color and type. Each drawer holds one. Although some of my favorite colors or types are ready to burst. Think I ought to find some patterns to use some up?

I stand mine on end in a dresser drawer. My stash is (theoretically) contained to one tall 4 drawer dresser. As I continue to purchase past its capacity, I just re-categorize what is stash. So far, kits have had to live elsewhere, all minky and ultra cuddle has been moved out, and anything not strictly for quilting (dec weight for bags) has also been relocated.
