My DH just booked us a trip to Maui next month so this time I want to be prepared and have a list of any recommended quilt shops on Maui. If you have any suggestions or comments on places to go to see quilts, fabrics or places to take lessons on traditional Hawaiian quilting I would really appreciate your input. Thanks and counting the days. :P

When we went last summer my DH took me to 3 of them, there was two in lahania walking distance from the hotel we stayed in, which was the best western. and one right up the road where we went to the beach. Last month there was another post about Maui and there were more suggestions

There's a shop right next the Lahania Hotel, that teaches Hawaiian quilting. They also sell yarn and stitchery kits. Nice small classes, too. Be sure to go snorkeling!!! The waters are sooooo clear. And go under the Banyan tree - it's HUGE. On Sundays, they usually have an arts festival, with a lot of local artists.

My daughter went to Maui twice and said the island of Kauai is the best place for quilt shops. A one day trip by island hopper plane will take you there and back. She also suggested you check online for the island of Maui and you can get a list.

Check Walmart too! We went to Honolulu on our honeymoon 5 yrs ago and the highlight of my trip was buying beautiful hawaiian fabric at Walmart - hard to believe huh? (It was all such a blur after 3 major events of moving, relocating, getting married - all while working full time). That was before I started quilting, but I made some shirts.
