"Turning Over a New Leaf #2" OBW with octagons
#1
Hi all. I love making OBWs (some of you may have noticed! ) but I've always used the hexagon technique (from the One Block Wonder books by Maxine Rosenthal). When I saw the beautiful dragon OBW with octagons made by Karen K that she posted recently, I thought it was about time I gave octagons a try! I had some leaf fabric (sent me by the lovely gaigai :-D ) that I'd already made a hexagon OBW with so I though it would be fun to see the difference. So here's my finished top using octagons. It's 55" square. The second pic is a close up and the third pic is the original OBW with hexagon blocks.
I'd really appreciate comments and preferences regarding the two techniques. I think they each have merit myself. :-

Thank you! No fussy cutting, it's a process like stack n whack where you layer repeats of fabric and cut triangles from that to create the kaleidoscope effect. No waste and a surprise in every block!
