Applique Lap Quilt in the works

This quilt started with the center panel, which I just loved.
My whole house is done in toile, so naturally I had to use it for the border.
I decided to duplicate the flowers from the panel to create the floral border vine. I photocopied them, set them in grayscale, and traced to create the pattern.
I machine applique differently than most quilters. I do not like using fusible, it gums up the needle, and I don't like how it feels in a quilt. So instead, I use monofiliment thread and edge stitch each element down, then use the blanket or satin stitch to secure it permanently. It's the long way around, but I prefer it.
The yo-yo flowers were stitched with a metallic thread and I plan on adding beads to the centers.
Eventually I will use a white pearlized thread to add the accents to the flowers, as in the center, with a white bead.
The quilt will have a scallopped edge, and I think I am going to do feathers for quilting in the borders, and in the center I will trapunto some of the flowers, and cross hatch the burgundy background.
Thanks for looking, I'll post as work continues.
