Bias Blunder
Just finished the binding on this one, the first quilt top I completed about 18 months ago. This will live in the trailer.
I was wondering....how many of you have made one of these.....and how many made it for their first quilt? It seems to be a favorite for beginners.
My beginner mishap on this was that I didn’t know I was supposed to use a paper foundation to keep the bias in check. To try to rectify my mistake I cut long narrow strips of fusible interfacing and marked it at 12” intervals (the intended finished size of the blocks). Then I fused and basted the strips to the quilt edges easing to fit before I sewed the binding on. Then I washed it and hoped for the best. It turned out pretty much square and not lumpy so it was worth the extra effort.
