Hi everyone - I set about making a lap quilt for my younger sister who is in her 40s. She was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple years ago and has had many ups and downs. Currently, she is in a down swing. One of her greatest joys, besides her children, was to breed boxers. When she was diagnosed, her life had to stop and she can not longer do lots of things she loves. Since I live far away and don't see her very often, I made her a lap quilt for her to enjoy since she sits and rests most of the day. She says she is always cold and can add this to her layer of covers while on the couch. My sis still owns three boxers and loves them to death. They reciprocate!

There is no pattern for this quilt - I found a picture, enlarged it, and made pattern pieces from the picture. The yellow was too light, so I thread painted those pieces with brown thread to darken the color a little. I've posted before and after pics of the head so you can see the difference the detail makes.

Quilting was FMQ with stippling; larger stipple in the body of the quilt and smaller in the boarder. I had a time matching a binding color, so I took the main blue fabric and turned it inside out and waa-laa!!! Matching binding!!!

Thanks for looking everyone and please say a prayer for my sis. She's a great gal!

Sisters are wonderful and you surely fit the bill with your thoughtful quilt for your Sister.

My prayers go out to her and her family.

Great quilt, and so sweet of you to do it for her. Looks like your cute little quilt inspector sent his blessing and approval, too. Thanks for sharing it, and prayers for you both.
