first try at a QAYG
#1
This is the finished project of a Quilt As You Go. I can see that all the sashings do not exactly match so that is my next challenge to make sure that all matches as I sew them. A learning experience!!!. I love the concept and will do all my quilts in this manner from now on, will just make sure about butting up the squares to match. What do you think? Be honest now!! Used scrap material for the backing and warm and natural for the batting. How easy to quilt in small pieces!! I think that practice is the key word here to make sure that points are visable and sashing matches.

I love your quilt, your colors, the pattern, all of it. I have been doing the same thing, practicing the QAYG technique and had the same problem, getting my sashings lined up. I think it's something that just takes practice. I have found that once I have the first row on, then if I mark the sashing with a ruler, it goes a lot better. Like on your first row of blocks, after you put the bottom sashing on, mark the sashing where the vertical sashing are and then it works better. I still need practice on that too, but my last one came out a lot better than my first.
