... and a 'bonus'....
found a Pfaff 30/31 treadle on Craig's list not too far to drive so called about it yesterday and DH drove us to pick it up - I don't know about the cabinet - if it's 'storebought' or what but it's REALLY really neat - small and the whole thing is surprisingly light - DH and I carried it...
it needs cleaning and oiling really bad but it's not grossly dirty... and it sews great. It's the 30/31 so the feed dogs don't drop. I asked the woman if it had all it's goodies - she said yes - but guess what....
but the bobbin case is there and the regular foot etc
There was also this nasty dirty, really gross 1927 Singer 66 that had been electrified somewhere along the road - so I took all that off and put on a handcrank. This one really needs a good cleaning but should be fine - it's not froze up..

Love those old machines.
I have a 1930 model 66 Singer that runs like a dream in the cabinet I got off Craig's list
in a cabinet. The cabinet is the original, and needs some work.
I also have a 1937 model 201 Singer also in the original cabinet. Runs good also, but squeeks. It was bone dry when I bought it, but I cleaned it up and oiled it. Apparently it needs more oil.
What a good day you had and such great finds!

so this looks a lot better but the next thing is to get it out of the gross carrying case it's in... I think it's waaaaaaaaaay beyond cleaning..
so DH has this stuff called PB blaster that I used on the moving parts inside - yesterday the wheel wouldn't even turn - today I can run it with just my finger
inside is all cleaned up and oiled...
the black is kinda past being pretty but with the hand crank on it my daughter loves it (she's handicapped and can't use an electric - they run too fast for her).... she tried the 28k but wasn't too thrilled with the long bobbin part
she likes this.. we've got an empty cabinet this will go in and it'll go in her room and maybe she'll finally get her quilt done!
now I can work on the pfaff
