Funky Owls Baby Quilt Top -- need ideas...
#1
I made this quilt top for a dear friend of mine who's expecting and loves owls. She picked the owl fabric, and I designed the quilt. I'm very happy with it. Here's my question though, how should I quilt it?? I was thinking of using variegated thread, but I don't know what I should do? Does anyone look at this and 'see' a quilting design? I'm not very good at the quilting part, but I just don't think in-the-ditch or diagonals across the squares would look very good. It's small enough that I'm open to trying some hand quilting or something more fancy on the machine, I just need some ideas. Oh, and I think the binding is going to be stripy (pieced bias I think is the official name).
Thanks for the help in advance!

P.S. Not sure what that funky ripply wrinkle is in the picture, but it's not there on the quilt. Sorry, just noticed that!

If you are wanting to do some hand quilting, you could trace one of the owls onto plastic and cut it out, and quilt owl shapes in the border. And maybe just some straight line cross hatching in the middle, not to draw away from the owls! I love your colors, made a really cute quilt!

I think I would hand quilt in the ditch, then hand quilt around each owl -- making them stand out. Then I would make an outline of the owl and place in different areas like in the corners where the blocks meet or just randomly all over the quilt.
It's just an adorable quilt -- I love it!

Ninnie - at the risk of sounding really dumb, what is straight line cross hatching??
