Grandmothers Garden???
#1
I had done this quilt some time ago and prepared it with spray basting on a very thick wadding (polyester) I think. Every time I lifted it to try and stitch in ditch it seemed so bulky I thought it would never go through the machine. I have tried it today and just done two row of stitchng on the sashing and only have to finish with binding. It has so many old fabrics in it that it brought back many memories and although not perfect I just love it. Is it Grandmothers Garden?

Grandmothers garden is made up of hexagons. This is beautiful and I love the bright scrappy colors. It does remind me of something my Grandma would have made! She would have loved hand quilting it after piecing it too!

This is beautiful. I just have a question. The pieced blocks look good sized. Did you check the packaging on your wadding? I'm just wondering if the polyester will allow you to quilt this distance apart. Might want to double check. It's hard to tell the size of the blocks from the picture. Hopefully, I'm wrong and no additional quilting will be needed, but it seems to me that most poly batting suggests quilting closer together than cotton.

Hi Paperprincess It has been so long since I used this type of wadding that the packaging is long gone. Maybe I should do some more quilting in each of the block which are about 13 ins square. I don't intend to wash this quilt as I don't have it in mind for anyone, probably a throw for my little grandson when he is napping. Thank you for your suggestion.
