Have you tried big stitch quilting?
#1
Wanted to share a recent cushion cover I quilted. I wanted to hand quilt it and decided to big stitch quilt it, as I like the embroidered effect it gives, but when I searched on this board for techniques came up with nothing. I found trapunto, but that is not quite the same.
After searching the web, I used coton a broder No.16 and the stitches are two and a bit to the inch, with the space about half the size of the stitch.
I would really appreciate any feedback if there is better way of doing it, but having started hand quilting after reading all the encouraging posts from hand quilters on this board, I'm afraid I've got the bug!

I haven’t done it yet, but I really like the rustic look of big stitch quilting. I think I will try it on my funky chicken quilt. Here is a post from a blogger I follow that does it, I think she may even have a tute on there if you poke around.
