Memories of Provence Quilt Top

Memories of Provence Quilt Top
I have finally attached the borders to my Memories of Provence Quilt. I'm not crazy about the two borders as I LOVED the original floral border fabric. DH doesn't like flowers in decorating our bedroom, so I let him look at all the fabrics and let him choose. This was a block of the month pattern I did through a local quilt shop. I now have to practice my FMQ'ing skills as I'm going to try to do this myself on my Janome MC6600. I'm rather new at FMQ'ing so I'll be doing a lot of practice before I start this. Any ideas or hints for the quilting would be much appreciated!

Your machine will be just great for this job! Make sure you practice on a quilt sample so the tension is just right. Try to sew slowly so you have good control. I would probably use quilt stencils here and there...free hand is harder. Don't forget your quilting gloves! Good luck and show us yor work please!

This is a beautiful sampler. I have LA so my suggestions will probably be much more than you want to do but I tend to always SITD on samplers to help emphasize all the piecing. Then I usually come up with several FMQ motifs I can repeat throughout the quilt to bring continuity. If this quilt came to me I would probably do some sort of feathers in the white areas, changing them up a bit to fit the spaces and curved crosshatching in the setting triangles. I can't see enough of the borders to make a suggestion on the borders.
