Things I Learned:
• Sew slow
• Sew straight
• I CAN iron without steam. Who would have thunk it?
• Use starch (haven’t done that for over 20 years)
• DO NOT pre-wash/dry anything smaller than a Fat Quarter. OMG what a mess!
• What tools to use, tools that aren’t necessary, when, where, how and why to use them
• How to miter corners
• That it is important to label your quilt
• How to label a quilt
• How to Fabric Paint, Batik, Applique, many, many other techniques!!
• Don’t use cheap thread!
• What DH, LQS, OBW, BOM, UFO, WOMBAT, WWIT, etc. means. Thought I was going crazy for a little while there.
• How to “post” and “reply”
• NO ONE has the right to rip my fabric but me. The only time I do it, is when I want to save time and am not that concerned about distorting the edge. I have a right to waist my fabric and money, no one else.
• How to shop on line for fabric (this was a bad thing to learn)
• That I’m not alone and others need a 12 step program for excessive fabric buying too
• All the mistakes belong to me. I’ll take full credit for those.
• Mistakes bring on opportunity and creativity.
• I LOVE TO QUILT.

I don't think we ever stop learning....but you can wash little bits...you just have to do it by hand in a basin (I'm a total frugal so...it works for me!). I love your list and can relate to all and your quilts are absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing your journey so far....inspiring stuff!

Wow saw your first post and loved the quilt. These others are just as impressive. Great quips about what you learned too. Welcome to the club, we all learn every quilt we do, we all make mistakes and yes we all need the 12 step program for buying fabric, LOL.

I have learned more here than in most of the classes I have taken. I don't think much has been missed and if it has everybody shares. The good, bad and ugly. Though I have not seen ugly yet, that seems to only be in the eyes of the beholder in quilting. So many tips, so much beautiful work, just like yours. Great job in such a short time!!! Some of the abbreviations I still don't know what they mean. Someone needs to post them so we can all know, us older gals aren't up on all the shortcuts.
