my folded dahlia quilt

wow my DH asked me if anyone had ever done this on a whole quilt and I said they could but I don't think they would be able to lift it afterwards. It must be heavy? It's beautiful. Very ambitious!

Beautiful!!
When the tutorials and pillow samples started showing up, I was curious about making a larger piece, and how the heavier, multi-layered blocks would work in a quilt.
How much thicker/heavier are those blocks than the sashings? Are you going to (or do you need to) do something to compensate for the difference? How would you quilt those stars? Are they too big to leave unquilted?
Just curious. I think it's going to be a stunning quilt when you're finished.

I wonder if it's almost like a reverse trapunto technique. ;-)
The QAYG option is also an interesting alternative.
