Need Suggestions For Quilting The Borders
After a year I've gotten this piece half way hand quilted. YAY!!! The quilting echoed the pieces in the inside of the quilt but not sure what to do with the borders. Would really appreciate some suggestions. The green border is 2" wide, the yellow is 1 1/2" wide, the floral is 4" wide, the next yellow is 1 1/2" wide and the pink is 2" wide. Thanks so much!

OH MY! That is a beautiful quilt and your hand-quilting is gorgeous! I am mainly a longarm quilter, but, I think simple quilting in the border would be best, as it is a busy border made with several fabrics. How about piano keys, with each key being the same width, and lining up with the small squares in the blocks? I think it would be easy to mark and quilt, but very effective.

I am a handquilter and one of my favorite borders is a row of hearts with a swirl line between each. I have a cookie cutter I use and alternate the hearts, one up, one down with the line between. It's nice because it is not too dense and is quite fast once you get it marked. I have collected a lot of seasonal cookie cutters just for quilting but the heart is my favorite.

What do you think about this one? Since the inside is all quilted straight lines I thought maybe something with a smooth design might look good on the outside.

I might suggest something simple as the floral fabric is so busy the quilting won't be very visible. Diagonal or straight lines ~2" apart? Perhaps in pairs (double lines), I think that's just classic! Beautiful quilt!
