Nostalgic baby quilt - Dick and Jane
#1
Fabric: a 7 fat quarter kit (which arrived with only 6 fq's so I had to pull one from my stashlette)
Pattern: Snap It's a Quilt! by Peggy Ann. The border is supposed to be 2 1/2" and you cut down your leftovers from 3 1/2". I let that border be 3 1/2" instead. So instead of getting the border and binding from the same fabric included in the kit I just get the border from it.
Size: about 40" X 54"
Backing: came with the kit
I really like this. At first I thought the pinks didn't play well together, but in the end that didn't bother me.
Quilting: Cross Hatching done with varigated thread. I LOVE varigated thread!
Binding is pulled over from the backing cause that's how I roll! :)

Don't apologize about binding your quilt using the backing fabric. This is a great way for user friendly quilts. I am sure that this quilt will be used frequently and by the time the binding is getting thin, the rest of the quilt will be too. We use this method of binding all the time for our Community or donation quilts and it is quick and works well for us.

That's a great quilt! Where did you find the kit? I love Dick and Jane. My aunt was a first grade teacher and I helped her grade papers, etc, so they were a part of my life a little longer than they were for some folks! :-)
