Rag quilt finish
I like the look of the rag quilts made from jeans - but I did not like the idea of a raw outside edge.
All the seams are double-stitched.
I came up with a solution that I'm comfortable with.
These are two small quilts - 36 x 44 - I cut up old Eddie Bauer chamois shirts - and jeans

I love my jean rag quilts! Two of them have batting and minkee backings. They are super heavy so we use them for cold football games and watching Christmas parades! The animals love them and they hold up beautifully with all the washings

Love the idea of the double seam. I did some practice squares with denim and fleece, but sure hate the thought of all those threads in the washing machine when I would wash it. May have to try that. Thanks for the idea.

How does the laundromat equipment deal with all that shedding and fraying of those threads.
The double sewing was just to make the seams stronger. I got a little sloppy on the exactness of the seams being exactly on top of each other.

My hands don't hurt at all - I bought some Heritage Cutlery 6-1/2" Rag Quilting Snips and they are awesome. (Thank you to the person that recommended them - I am embarrassed to say that I don't remember for sure who that is)
I was getting annoyed that the safety catch was hooking up while I was snipping - after a DUH moment, I realized that if I held that side to the bottom, it would NOT catch.

Very Cool!!! I'm not the only one who did something different. I added a border like normal, enclosing the last blocks seam and then clipped the border fabric. Anyway it's done is Cool!!
