Ricklef House
This quilt is 18" X 18".
We lived in this house back in the 70's in Iowa. We had rented this house for several years from a family called Ricklefs. So we also called it the Ricklefs house. After we moved out it was empty for many years. We drove by it about 10 years later and took this picture of the abandoned place.
Looking at the picture we had taken years ago, I made this quilt of the Ricklefs house.

So many houses have fallen into disrepair across the rural landscape. I couldn't help but help but think of Joyce Kilmer's lines:
"I suppose I've passed it a hundred times, but I always stop for a minute and look at the house, the tragic house, the house with nobody in it."
I love the detail you have put in this memory. G
