Ricky Tims Mini

Ricky Tims Mini
Ricky Tims is coming to location not too far from me in April. Mt Albert (there is only one store there.)
I was really curious about his convergence quilts and there are a lot on line to look at. I wanted to get some idea of how much fabric was wasted with all the cuts and seams so I decided to use - wait for it - 4 charm squares. Really cute. I'll hand this over to our guild for their mini silent auction/raffle at our show in May.
I still used 1/4 inch seams so I guess that's an unfair comparison. The smallest strip you see is 1/4 inch. Starting with 4 five inch charm squares, my mini ended up at a whopping 6 inches square.

Yikes, that is a lot of fabric in seams rather than on the front of the quilt. 4 charms to start made one at 6" finish.....You lost over 60%, right? Not for me with fabric as cher as it is today.

Great job on this! I made a mug rug & gifted it to a lady in the Bella Coola area of BC who had been generous in her quilting friendship. I never once considered if I was wasting fabrics or not in the process. If you get a chance to take any course with Ricky Tims I would sure grasp it! I was fortunate enough to attend Shipshewana, Indiana quilt seminars a few years back when he was there... bought his DVD etc... thoroughly enjoyed his presentations & evening show.
