Which Sashing Would You Use?
I am working on a 30's repro Sun Bonnet Sue. It is a simple design that I have done the blanket stitch around. I am trying to decide the sashing to use between the blocke. It will be for my Great Granddaughter, Kaylee. She is 5 years old. I had also considered alternating the Sue block with a block of solid material between each one and be able to make two quilts. One for Kaylee Lynn and one for her younger sister Adalynn Grace. I definitely need help in deciding which way to go and would appreciate your thoughts.

Putting plain squares between them and using the sashings on them is a brillant idea. Two quilts from these for the two girls would be perfect. They could tell them apart by the color of the sashing.
Very cute Sues.

i'm with you... make two quilts. use a different sashing on each. i did a similar thing with some precious antique hand embroidered blocks. i found a toile for the alternate blocks on one and the other had nice butterfly fabrics between. your sue blocks are terrific

I like the idea of making two quilts using different color sashing on each - like pink and lavender. The "blank" blocks could be a pretty design fabric or perhaps some vintage hankies or just white like the Sunbonnet Sue blocks. Whatever you choose, the granddaughters will love them.
