So I made this quilt for my son.. You can see it here:

Next Saturday they are having black belt testing at the world golf village, here in florida. Chief master clark AND chief master in ho lee will both be there. Chief master in ho lee is going to become grand master (9th degree black belt) in june, I believe. My son's instructor said we could go and get his belt signed. my question is....what if I took this songahm star quilt to get signed as well? Do you think it would mess my sons quilt up? Do you think its a silly idea? Should I just forget it?
Any rights would be great!

surprised the belt would get signed. My son studies korean martial arts and he is reprimanded if the belt touches the floor, etc as it is a sign of disrepect. Could you put a white block on the back for the signature? embroider on the label near where the signature will be? Remember to bring a sharpie marker for the signature.

I think if it would be as important to your son as the quilt itself, it is worth the effort to get it signed. I like the idea of the previous poster to have a square added to the back of the quilt to have it signed. That way, if he ever wanted it removed, it could be.

When he first got started he got his white belt signed. We asked his instructor if it was a sign of disrespect and he told us know. My son is now a camo belt.
Thank you for your input. I will make a label for the back then. Should it just be a plain white label, enough room for him to sign it? This is a once in a life time thing for us to see chief master in ho lee. I dont want to miss the opportunity to get it signed!

Whatever color would be appropriate for the label to stand out on the back of the quilt - something light-colored so the writing shows well. Also, yes, please use a fabric pen. I've seen Sharpie writing fade with age and become illegible over time.
