What happened Henry??? hmmm, i've never done a lone star, have thought about it, and then thought, no, too hard lol, hmmm, is it supposed to have 8 points? or 6? The fabrics are so pretty, do you have any idea where it went wrong?

You know Henry, when i look at it, your diamonds almost look more like 60 degree angles, that would be used for a 6 point start. Did you try making all 6 of them, and just laying them out before sewing them? I really think you can make it work as a 6 point star if you just undo it and lay it out, and take a good look at it, here's hoping for you :)

Here is an interesting one you might like to try, it's called Sun Star:

The post that was given by Barb M is the best....that is how I did my stars and they are hard.....make sure you starch your fabric before cutting....I starched like 4 or 5 times....it could almost stand on its own I couldn't tell you what is going on with your star.....Good Luck....

i also think those look like diamonds for a 6-point star. you ... ummm ... have 7?
get large pieces of paper and draw 60 degree diamonds on them that are larger than your pieced diamonds and all the same size. stick the pieced diamonds in the middle of the drawn diamonds. using the paper diamonds as your foundation, add narrow borders to the pieced start until they are all the same size. sew them together for a new star.
machine applique that star to a pillow background.
start fresh on new stars for your quilt. something learned ... nothing wasted.
