What I did with one of my "mug rug or whatever" blocks
#1
Going on vacation in early October and wanted another small shoulder bag so I don't have to worry about carrying a purse just to hold a few things, so I decided to make this. One pocket on the outside, one on the inside. Have many more orphan blocks left, may make some more. I also make these small purses out of mens ties.

This particular pouch started with a 9" x 10" orphan block. I didn't do anything fancy. Just added pockets, button and button hole, folded it in half, added shoulder strap and binding. It's done! All I wanted was to make sure my billfold would fit, and maybe a lipstick. The ones I make out of the men's ties are just big enough for my cell phone, and a card holder for my library card, debit card, and a few bills. They are great for shopping at flea markets, craft shows, etc. where you like to have your hands free and not heavy.

Great bag! I love men's ties for a quick piece of bias binding for small projects. I am toying with the idea of using the round, coffee filter foundation scrap circles and binding the edge with a tie bias strip. I will then applique them to a background block? Way too many ideas and sooo little time!
