WIP Baby Quilt for a Coworker
#1
These are progress shots of a baby quilt for a coworker's upcoming daughter, Elizabeth Marie! Such cute little girl colors. The pattern is Squares Within Squares 2 from the Quilter's Cache.
She told me she was decorating the nursery in pinks, yellows, and browns. We work at an animal shelter, so the center squares are very appropriate! This will be her first child and I'm pretty sure she's due in August.
This is only my second quilt so mistakes are certainly present. I'm most likely going to tie it for the sake of expediency. Should I also SITD or would just tying be adequate?

Piecing in progress! I'm working my way through the blocks for the quilt top. Strip piecing is magical. In the background is an art quilt belonging to someone else at the Quilting Bee.

The layout-to-be of the quilt, minus border.

Closer view of the layout. Its cuteness burns me. All of the animals are fussy-cut.

Rows are forming! Strip piecing continues to be amazing.

Darling fabrics and colors for a sweet baby quilt. Do try machine quilting it, it will hold up better with the use that most baby quilts get. If you can machine piece you can machine quilt, just use your walking or even feed foot and take your time pin basting it.
