Woo Hoo! I won 2nd place People's Choice at Bennington Quiltfest
I am shocked and so happy! Thank you any local QB members who went and cast their vote for "Go Fish!" I made this quilt for my brother and it is almost all flannel, front and back. The only fabrics that weren't flannel are the green fish (3rd from last border) and the brown narrow borders and binding.
I started with a flannel panel in the center and made the quilt round robin style adding different style borders until I got it up to size. I then LAQ on my Innova and added button eyes for the pieced fish. The pine trees are a paper pieced pattern I drafted up myself taking inspiration from the jeweled forest quilts posted here last fall. The quilting was mostly SITD. I outlined all the elements in the center panel like the bear, the cabin, the moose, etc. Along with all the different paw prints and foot prints (except the moose tracks, they were too numerous to outline quilt so I decided not to). The fish fabrics just had an enlongated meander and occasional swirls to mimic water. All the pieced fish I quilted scales on the body and bone lines in the fins then I embelleshed with button eyes.
Here I am grinning ear to ear having just found out I won

Here is a pic of the front of the quilt (sorry it is sideways):

and here is the back which I pieced mostly with scraps from the front, some flannels from my stash and a walmart flannel sheet to fill it out to be big enough.
I think because the quilt was double sided is why I took second. The show people hung it so you could see front and back which was an unexpected and delightful suprise. I am elated.

Congrats on your masterpiece. That's one lucky brother who will receive this quilt. Thanks for sharing your great news, and not only showing the quilt, but the special quilter! What a nice picture....
