It's a constant battle. As soon as you find a way to block them, there's someone finding a way to get past the blocks. I think this site lets more advertisers in than most though. I've notice an increase in ads since starting to post here.

After suggestions from multiple people, I've migrated to using Mozilla Firefox as my browser for any internet access. Far, far fewer pop ups regardless of where I go. They have a built in ad blocker but you can also customize those settings. And it seems to play nicely with some sites that IE wasn't.
