Wow Carriem! Are the planes paper pieced? Love the pop of red in the flange. I've never tried that technique either but I think it looks great on your quilt.

asimplelife--yes the planes are pp'd...except the very front triangle...that was sewn when I added the "sky" corner. It is "raw edge" since I haven't learned any other "applique" yet.

For anyone looking to use up scraps, check out the scrappy quilt album here on the QB. You will have so many ideas. There are pages and pages of wonderful scrappy quilts, with more being added all the time. I love checking out the albums when wanting ideas for quilts. There is so much talent on this board. I always get more ideas than I can ever use!

carriem, great quilt. ...... super colors and theme. I know someone that would love this one, got his pilot's license a year ago and still on cloud nine.
