Martina we all get caught up in that "squirrel" mode....but that makes for more possible UFO finishes next year...we've done better this year. The sidesteps just paves the way for increased completions for 2017....I hope we can keep working at this next year...

I will be off work for FIVE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whoo-hoo!!
I'm planning to participate in the Mystery Quilt, but since I've never done one before, it may turn into a UFO. But, since I don't do the madness that is Black Friday shopping, maybe it will go ok after all.
I am hoping to set up my new-to-me Viking QuiltDesigner sewing machine, and do some minor piecing to get a couple of flimsies ready to load on the longarm. Since I have Monday off (and hubby doesn't), I think I may be able to knock out a couple that just need quilting and binding.
See? I always have all these grandiose plans when I'm off, but I fear that I will not get that much done. I can plan for it, and endeavor to get it all done.

Haha! I think that we have all been SO GOOD this year, almost 400 UFO's completed, that you need that "reward" of starting something new.
When I did the organizing a few weeks ago, I found some UFO's that I had completely forgotten about... so that kind of makes them "new" again. I'm really hoping to get those knocked out before the end of the year.
I certainly hope this train continues into next year, because I need to make some room in the closet.
Why? Because we're going to have a new central heat & air system installed at the first of the year. The old one is about shot. But also.... my sewing room was formerly a carport, and the original owners enclosed it... without running any ductwork for heating or air conditioning. So, in the worst part of summer, it was not so fun to be in my sewing room... and now that it's getting colder, that's not so comfortable either. I can run a small kerosene heater, and the ceiling fan helps disperse the fumes, but still....
Anyway, the ductwork will be run from under the house, up through my closet space. It won't take up TOO much space, but I still need to work on these UFO's and not-even-started-kits (are those PIGS? Projects In Grocery Sacks) and get them out of the way to make enough room.
Then I will be comfortable year-round!!

Joes Mom- what a beautiful quilt! Good job with the backing and quilting--very creative.
QuilterMomma-I love the mug rugs! Good for you on the hand sewing to get them closed up--I'm not a fan of doing hand sewing myself. Good idea to put the pincushion under the machine for quilting, I think it would dive me nuts trying to hand quilt anything, especially if it involved adding trapunto.
