ahhhhh I see .... you were meaning "just" the triangles, and not the squared up HSTs!
So I think you are trying to do a Square in a Square unit, right?
I just happened to pull this out of my sleeve for you!!!
http://quiltville.com/sqinsqchartpf.html
And I too would oversize ... I always find that those things go a little wonky, no matter how perfectly you do them! So oversize, and starch ... and trim to squared up perfection!!!!

You're sooooo welcome!
There's lots of other similar goodies on that site.
I have a book that I keep by my machine, bought that has a lot of those formulas and charts in.
Handy little devil it is!

W4Me - I heard of a method for doing a square in a square. (I have done it once.) Cut 2 squares the same size as the center square. Now cut diagonal across both of 'em. 4 triangles that are too big. Find the centers of the center block & the centers of the triangles. Line 2 of the centers up w/the opposite sides of the block & sew 'em on. Then do the other 2 sides. Trim to the correct size. Clear as mud???? Wish I had my camera so I could show ya.

Thanks dublb. That actually makes some kind of sense. I will be playing soon, just don't know when. It's another of those weekends. Craft fair Saturday and two mothers on Sunday. No me time to speak of. I think I may have some of that in June. I hope.
